New to Yoga?

If you are new to yoga we recommend that you try Hatha Yoga, Gentle Flow, Slow Flow and Yin, or come to Morning Practice (Mysore) for individual guidance. Check our schedule for times. Most of our classes are open to all levels unless noted that they require experience. Our class descriptions will tell you if a class is not suitable for beginners. If you are not sure where you should start, stop by or contact us for a complimentary consultation.

For your first visit, please arrive 15 minutes early so you can fill out a waiver, and we can show you around.

For all classes, please arrive 10-15 minutes early and consider the time needed for parking, changing, and signing in.

Yoga is best practised on an empty stomach, so for your comfort allow 2-3 hours after a meal.

Yoga is practised barefoot. Please wear comfortable clothing that moves with you.

Please keep cell phones off, and we recommend that you do not bring valuables to the studio.

Please do not wear perfume or strong scents to the studio.

In order to notice the benefits of yoga you should practice at least twice a week. Practising 3 to 5 times a week is enough to dramatically effect change in your body and mind!

The list is long! Many people find stress release and improved sleep early on. With regular practice, you can experience increased flexibility, strength, balance, cardiovascular health, better posture, digestion and elimination, a calmer mind, and greater focus.

Yoga can be very helpful to rehabilitate injuries and  improve many health conditions, but it is important to check with your doctor first if you have specific concerns. Please inform your teacher of any limitations before class, and do not push yourself. We can help advise you whether the class you plan to go to is appropriate.

No. Flexibility is just one aspect of yoga, and you will certainly become more flexible with regular practice. Not practicing yoga because you are not flexible is like not having a bath because you are not clean!
