Asrael is an Ayurvedic Practitioner and yoga teacher who has been living and teaching in the Cowichan Valley since 2011.
Yoga first came to Asrael while she was a teenager, and she started practising regularly 16 years ago. In 2006, she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Katherine Austin, and has been living yoga ever since. Asrael draws from many different traditions of yoga: Ayurvedic, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Sivananda, Yin, and Restorative.
Her classes have evolved to be a nourishing experience for all levels, powerful and transformative, yet gentle all at the same time. In her hatha classes, there is always time set aside for pranayama and meditation, and postures are often held for longer periods so that we can settle in and experience them, always leaving time for a deep and restful savasana. Asrael always infuses her teachings with consciousness and connection to spirit: the physical aspect of yoga is just part of the picture.
Asrael also teaches Healing Light Yoga Therapy, which is a restorative yoga class where we embrace the energy of our subtle body, enhancing our practice with pranayama, mantra, visualization, and deep, deep surrender (These classes are taught all over the world via the Internet).
She is a graduate of New World Ayurveda, studying under Dr. Paul Dugliss, and is also on their faculty. Her training includes specialized intensives in Ayurvedic Energy Healing, Pancha Karma, Jyotish Astrology, and Ayurvedic Yoga. She has spent many months in India, immersing herself in the culture and the knowledge available there as well. Asrael runs her own Ayurvedic Healing Practice, where she focuses on expanding consciousness; working with all the different koshic layers, from the physical to the spiritual, to create balance and bliss for all.
The most important thing about yoga to Asrael is the opportunity it gives us to connect to spirit, and to feel the peace that we are.
